Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) stock rose about 3% in Monday’s premarket trading as investors returned to growth stocks. Nasdaq futures gained 0.98%, while S&P 500 futures rose 0.67%.
AMD’s move appears tied largely to the stronger market backdrop. There was no single company-specific headline driving the stock early Monday.
Still, AMD remains one of the market’s strongest semiconductor performers. The stock has gained about 250% over the past 12 months and is trading close to its 52-week high.
That momentum can make AMD especially sensitive to broader shifts in risk appetite.
Technical Analysis
AMD remains in a strong long-term uptrend.
At its premarket price of $576.90, the stock was 18.1% above its 20-day simple moving average of $490.75. It was also 16.9% above its 50-day SMA of $495.85 and 63.5% above its 200-day SMA of $354.62.
However, the near-term setup is less clear. The 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day average. That bearish crossover can signal consolidation.
The broader trend remains bullish because the 50-day SMA is well above the 200-day average.
Momentum has also improved. The MACD is above its signal line, while the histogram is positive. That suggests buyers are regaining control after the stock’s previous pullback.
Resistance sits near $584.50, close to AMD’s 52-week high. Support is around $498, near its shorter-term moving averages.
